Top Four Interior Paint Colors for a Victorian Style Home
By: Emmalie Kipp
Victorian style decor is unique, eye appealing and fun. If you are decorating your home in this style, it is important to get the right design for your walls. While wallpaper was most popular in that era due to the new machinery creating it, wallpaper is not very appealing or efficient today. Instead, using bright colored interior paint will be the most effective way of creating the perfect Victorian style environment. Here are our four favorite interior paint colors for your Victorian style home.
- Coral – Victorian style is all about using bright colors because of the new invention of aniline dyes at the time. Coral was used in many pieces around the home, from upholstery covers to window valances.
- Greens – Teal and sea foam green are two perfect colors for a Victorian style home. These colors are bright and can lighten a room all on their own. In the Victorian times, natural light was not used, so their homes were dark. These bright colors would liven up a room all on their own!
- Yellow – Yellow was used as more of an accent interior paint color to go along with their color schemes. Painting one wall in yellow or using yellow as a trim and accent color through window coverings and furniture decor will definitely create a Victorian style decor.
- Neutrals – if you are hesitant to use bright interior paint colors, then it may be a good idea to go neutral. However, when doing so, it is important to create a pattern with it. Use a dark neutral with a light neutral to create variance and depth. Try making a design with painters tape at either the top or bottom of your walls to make it seem as though it is wall paper. Also, make sure that your other Victorian style decor exudes color and dimension.
